About the role
Micklefield Nursery is excited to announce that we are extending our opening hours to support families who would like all year-round care.
We are looking for a Deputy Manager who will work closely with the Nursery Manager, to turn this vision into reality. This exciting opportunity offers the chance for the right person to use their creative flair to modify and enhance our setting, ensuring Micklefield continues to offer the outstanding-rated standard of education whilst going from a term time nursery to an all-year-round setting.
Candidates should be in a Deputy Manager role or similar, and ideally have experience of working 52 weeks of the year.
Micklefield Nursery caters for children 2-5yrs of age. The year before Primary School the children move into our preschool class, where our EYP oversees their final year.
The Deputy role will be based in the youngest class where children can start just after their 2nd birthday. The Deputy will lead the team for this age group, ensuring the environment and learning opportunities meet the needs of our 2 years olds. There will be time away from the classroom to conduct other duties related to the nursery - the Deputy must ensure staff are able to run the class in their absence.
The Deputy must hold a minimum Level 3 qualification as defined by the Children’s Workforce Development Council, but a Level 6 is desirable. An excellent knowledge of child development is essential and there will be opportunities to extend your CPD. A good understanding of SEN will be required. Training in the SENCO role will be offered if required.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the whole nursery, in the absence of the Nursery Manager, so this is a great role to expand and develop your experience, responsibility and management skills. This role will require a robust working knowledge of safeguarding and Health and Safety; you should lead by example at all times.
The hours required are a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, throughout the year.. Micklefield requires someone who is flexible and can work between the hours 7:30-5.30pm. Full training and support will be provided at the start of this position, but we anticipate finding a candidate who will accept this challenge and supporting Micklefield as we grow and adapt.
Please note, candidates will be rigorously vetted throughout the recruitment process, following our safer recruitment policy.
Register your interest and request an application form from the Nursery Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
