Our vision and focus is to place children and young people at the heart of everything we do and ensure they have positive experiences and outcomes.
Birmingham Children’s Trust Fostering Agency has a national and regional presence and is the biggest children’s provider in Europe.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Practitioner to support the Team Manager in driving forward the fostering agency plans and priorities within one of our specialist fostering support teams. We are looking for a professional who is dynamic and passionate in supporting the agency to provide high quality fostering placements for our Children and Young People in Care and want the opportunity for a fresh challenge.
You will be working in a part of the Fostering Service, which plays a key role in the support and services for foster carers and children. You will have strong skills and experience in positively engaging and communicating with children and carers as well as having in depth understanding of safeguarding, support and regulatory requirements of the fostering agency.
For this role you would need to be a professionally qualified social worker, registered with SW England who has demonstrable post qualification experience of working with children and young people, safeguarding and fostering. The role and duties also include managing a small case load; as well as providing technical and professional expertise, participating in out of hours and duty, mentoring and quality assurance to less experienced colleagues. You will also support the Team Manager in the day-to-day running of the team.
Testimonial from Cheryl Reeves, Senior Practitioner:
‘Birmingham fostering service has proven to be a supportive service to work for and in only 5 months, I have been made to feel like one of the team from my first day. The learning and development opportunities provide high quality CPD and the benefits offered are excellent, ensuring good work life balance.
As part of my role, I work closely with the management team to help develop the service. In the short time I’ve been here there have already been positive changes and progress made which I am proud to be a part of. The carers we support are committed to their roles and the children and young people they care for. Positive outcomes and achievements are regularly celebrated which makes the job all the more rewarding. ‘
In return for this we offer a supportive team environment, with regular supervision, access to training and shared learning, mental health and well-being support. This is in addition to the wider range of benefits available which includes competitive rewards and pension, a generous annual leave package with 29 days plus bank holidays; ‘Golden hello’, Retention payment from day 1 of joining for first two years of service and our recently launched Salary Sacrifice Car Leasing Scheme; to name a few.
