Bracknell Forest Council has an ambition to be a high performing organisation. We want to be characterised by effective leadership that empowers managers - where individuals are self-reliant, flexible and responsive to service demands. We are committed to a culture that encourages people to be their best, with responsibility and accountability.
We are proud of our community. The care we give. The services we provide. The spaces we create. But we are always looking to do more. Which is why we give our people the time, support and resources they need not only to do their job well, but also to help define the way we do things more broadly. There will always be room for your ideas here. This is about taking ownership. And having the opportunity to learn, develop and progress.
Put simply, a career with us means having everything you need to build on your skills. To build better relationships. To build even better communities. This is your chance to make a lasting impact.
What it's like working in our team...
Bracknell Forest is a great place to live and work and we have high ambitions for the area. The current stage of redevelopment of our town centre is complete with future expansion already being planned within the town centre and beyond. This really is an exciting time to join and be a part of this dynamic and changing organisation.
You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training...
Your key priority will be to lead and manage a team responsible for providing professional building services, reactive repairs, compliance, management of the Planned Maintenance programme and Capital Works schemes with business support across the Council. The team incorporates surveyors, project managers, energy managers, admin staff and the councils in house facilities team.
You will prepare briefs, design schemes, prepare specifications and run projects from an in-house team or with external Consultants. Projects will range from the refurbishment and maintenance of the councils’ maintained schools and corporate planned works with various other one-off capital schemes as applicable.
The role will have the oversight of compliance amongst the council’s portfolio of properties and along with the wider team ensure that our estate remains compliant and in a good condition.
You will be expected to maintain your continuous professional development as current legislation changes or are revised.
The benefits you will experience are...
- Regular opportunities for development with internal and external training courses.
- An inclusive and social working environment.
- Flexible working opportunities including a flexi-time scheme.
- A great office location next to travel links and the regenerated town centre.
