Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People is committed to giving young people the best start in life.  As such, our targeted youth service is a vital component in the development and wellbeing of many young people, particularly those who are going through challenges in their home life, education or social environment.

The Service enables young people to succeed by providing high quality informal education opportunities to promote personal and social development. Underpinned by the concepts of targeted prevention and early intervention in order to deliver help to young people at the earliest possibility – thereby reducing the need for costly specialist intervention later.

We have rewarding opportunities for energetic, creative and motivated individuals to join us and make a tangible difference to at risk and vulnerable young people’s lives.

With the full support of experienced colleagues who share your passion for helping young people develop the skills and confidence they will need to make the successful transition into adulthood, you will deliver programmes that will teach them new skills, develop their self-esteem, and enhance their employability.

Every project will bring new challenges, and you could find yourself delivering programmes in independent living skills, supporting young people in staying away from gang culture, or offering guidance on sexual health.

Benefitting from both initial and ongoing training, we will support you in achieving your inhouse qualification, Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice, for which you will be paid.

This valuable opportunity will provide you with an exceptional grounding in working with young people – and with flexible working hours, you can fit this role around your other life commitments.

You will excel in our friendly and collaborative teams if you have some experience of working with young people and have good communication skills.  As our learning opportunities extend from sharing knowledge about education and employment, to making the right decisions, we are keen to hear from candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds. That might mean you have skills, knowledge or experience in sports, arts, media, music, outdoor education, The Duke of Edinburgh Award, emotional, mental, sexual or physical health.  Whatever you bring to the team, you will find a supportive and welcoming environment.

Be the person who makes a difference to a vulnerable young person. Join us today.

If you have any questions about this fantastic opportunity, please email sfyp@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Closing date is the 30th September 2021.

Virtual interviews are being conducted on a weekly basis.
