Hours:

Full-time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

Salary:

£51,000 to £55,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

 

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

The main purpose of the post is to strategically develop and oversee participation work in the Centre.

 

There is a growing requirement for children, young people and parents/carers to be involved in all areas of the work of the Centre, including treatment development, training, post graduate education, research and work in schools. This work may involve consultation in the early stages of project development, refinement of training and support materials, contributing to feedback around new initiatives. This level of participation is predominantly about the improvement and refinement of ideas generated by staff at the Centre. There is currently a high demand for this input and the work is coordinated by two Participation Officers and approximately 30 Young Champions and 30 Parent Champions. One part of this role will be to support this crucial part of project and training development in the Centre.

 

A second part of the role will be support children, young people and parents to begin to shape the strategic direction of the Centre, to begin to have influence in key decision making processes and to enable children, young people and parents/carers to play a part in such processes. In particular, the Head of Participation will have a key role in helping to articulate the priorities and views of children, young people and parents/carers about tackling social injustice in relation to child mental health.

 

The Centre has introduced hybrid working and the post-holder will be expected to work at least one day a week in the Centre initially, increasing to two days a week from 1 January 2022. The remainder of the week to be worked at home.

Contract duration

Fixed term – 12 months in the first instance.
