We are looking for two Casual General Catering Assistants to support us in the effective day to day operations of Printroom Café & Bar and The Storey. You must be motivated and enthusiastic, with a desire to contribute to our ongoing success.
You will undertake a range of duties including dealing with customers; using the till; serving food and beverages; cleaning; basic food preparation; maintaining hygiene standards; and preparing rooms and equipment for various events.
Ideally, you will have previous experience of customer care, barista coffee, and be able to deliver high levels of customer service.
As a key member of the catering and facilities team you will assist in opening and closing the building and will be required to work across sites to help deliver events.
As casual workers, you will be paid only for the hours which you work. The nature of casual work means that there is no mutuality of obligation. This means that the Council is not obliged to offer you any hours and neither are you obligated to accept any hours offered. The Council cannot guarantee that work will be available.
The hours of work for this position vary per week dependent upon business needs. Hours will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.
Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
Interview date: Friday, 8 October 2021
