We are seeking to recruit two officers to our Network Management Team, part of the Highways & Public Protection Service. The team is based in Magdalen House, Bootle.
The council has a Network Management duty to ensure that traffic movements are maintained on its road network and to keep any disruption to traffic through road and street works to a minimum. This duty is achieved through the co-ordination of all works on the highway in accordance with New Roads and Street Works Act 1981 and Traffic Management Act 2004 and by licensing and enforcing obstructions of the highway in accordance with the Highways Act 1980.
Utility companies and contractors who wish to work on the highway must apply for a permit to do so and the post holder would assist in ensuring that all permit applications are reviewed, co-ordinated and managed accurately and efficiently so that works on site are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner to minimise disruption to all highway users.
The successful candidates should be numerate and literate. Keyboard skills will be required along with an aptitude for teamwork and working in a busy customer focused environment to strict deadlines.
