We are moving towards the submission of a new Local Plan whilst simultaneously seeking to deliver high quality development, which is focused on attracting the right investment and infrastructure to improve quality of life for the Borough’s residents.
With a highly collaborative and flexible approach between Development Management and Planning Policy, Officers will be able to work across both elements ensuring policy formation reflects practical Development Management experience and planning decisions are based on expert policy and evidence knowledge. Officers who have traditionally worked in only one of these areas will have the ability to undertake and gain invaluable experience in the other.
We are seeking a highly motivated Planning Officer to determine applications for; and deliver high quality development. Initially, this role would work with a Development Management caseload, with the potential for opportunities to work across the two disciplines in the future.
You will be reporting to one of the Deputy Development Managers and will need to be able to manage your own case load of planning applications, pre-application advice requests and other work. You will need to be able to prepare reports and make recommendations for decisions on applications to be determined by the Head of Planning Services/Development Manager or Planning Committee.
The right candidate will be someone with knowledge and an understanding of town planning who is looking to progress their planning career and become part of a well balanced and dedicated team, dealing with a variety of applications in the context of attractive, interesting and varied rural and urban environments. The Council is operating a flexible working arrangement with a minimum of two days in the office and the opportunity to work at home for the remainder of the week.
