We currently have two exciting opportunities for you to join West Sussex County Council's Highways Planned Delivery Service on a career grade pathway…
You will work within the forward-thinking Highways, Transport & Planning Directorate, responsible for delivering and supporting sustainable projects through the coordination, implementation and promotion of key objectives within the County.
You'll be providing support for the West Sussex County Council Highways, Transport and Planning Team to help ensure that services are delivered to customers flexibly, efficiently and effectively, and undertaking a range of tasks as directed whilst maintaining a high standard of work. You'll make a positive contribution to the development of sustainable communities in West Sussex.
You'll support the team to deliver an annual programme of highways capital works. This work could include supporting major schemes, safety improvements, traffic calming, footways, cycleways, pedestrian crossings, drainage, safety barriers, highway signs, road markings, road studs and Traffic Regulation Orders or supporting the delivery of the county carriageway resurfacing programme. You'll also be required to assist in the development, planning, and implementation of the improvement projects to meet organisational and customer /stakeholder requirements, working in conjunction with other staff within their team.
You'll assist in ensuring that projects are developed and delivered on time, that quality procedures are followed, management systems utilised and updated and that schemes are delivered at the required quality and to budget, together with delivery of the communication and consultation requirements of the scheme.
Experience and Skills
You will be able to provide technical support, with excellent administration and organisational skills, and with a strong customer service ethic. You will need to be proficient in a range of IT skills including Excel. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and identify areas for improvement. You will need to use your great communication skills to liaise effectively with a range of customers and colleagues.
You must be able to process data and interpret complex information to produce accurate and high-quality outputs and documents with limited guidance. You will need to be effective in planning and organising your work to meet set targets.
