School and Setting Improvement Officer (SSIO)

Soulbury payscale 13-16 + SPA Points, Permanent 37 hours per week

Halton Borough Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed educational professional with Qualified Teacher Status (QT) to join the Local Authority School Improvement Team. The applicant will have held recent middle/senior leadership experience in a school and will have strong knowledge and understanding of the current educational landscape and changes affecting children, young people, school leaders and school communities. The applicant will need to demonstrate impact of their educational roles in improving educational outcomes for all children and will need to have excellent knowledge and understanding of statutory assessments and assessment policy and processes.

The role sits within the Educational Division and would be a key team player working with school improvement, Early Years, School Governance and wider educational teams. Ideally the candidate would need to work cooperatively as part of a team, whilst having the ability to work independently in an evidenced based environment. The successful applicant will work closely with schools and school leaders and will be able to provide support and challenge understanding the context of the school whilst driving national, regional, local and school based priorities.

The role is a full time role, but will require some evening or weekend working on occasions, delivering training; advising governors and representing Halton Borough Council in line with the borough’s statutory duties and local priorities.

In addition to the salary, you will receive an essential car user allowance and mileage. You will be reimbursed for any work related costs (outside of commute) of toll fees when using the Mersey Gateway Bridge.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jill Farrell, Divisional manager for Education 0-19 on 0151 511 7288.

Interviews will be held 13th October 2021
