About The Job
Salary: £18,198 to £18,562 per annum (£6,299 to £6,425 per annum, pro rata)
Working Pattern: Part-time (15 hours per week) Shifts 11:00am -14:00pm
Contract Length: Term Time Only, Permanent

We're looking for a committed and highly motivated Catering Assistant to be based at Herons Dale School, Shoreham on a part-time basis.
As a catering assistant, you will be a valued part of our catering team providing healthy and freshly produced meals. Your main responsibilities will be to assist in the preparation, cooking, service clearing and cleaning of the catering equipment and kitchen environment within the required standards, ensuring hygiene and safety measure are maintained.
The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment within a prescribed time frame. This is an active role, you will be required to lift, move, and handle large equipment frequently.
To carry out this role you will need good communication and interpersonal skills to support pupils with their life skills. You will need to be understanding of the differing needs of young people with special educational needs. You will have a flexible approach to working to produce a high standard service and a positive approach to working within a team.
Experience and Skills
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with children and staff, demonstrating good written and verbal skills.
- Ability to work using your own initiative and within a team.
- Ability to be sensitive to the needs of the service users.
- Ability to have a flexible approach to allocated duties.
- Able to complete physical tasks.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
- Prior experience in working in a commercial catering environment.
- Experience in dealing with customers, including written and verbal communication.
- Experience in working within Health & Safety practices in a commercial setting.
