The Platform is seeking a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individual to provide technical and duty management cover at the Platform in Morecambe and when necessary, at Ashton Hall and The Storey in Lancaster. The post holder will also support the Council’s annual festival programme. We want to make a real difference to people’s lives by delivering an ambitious festival and events programme.
We are seeking to appoint someone who will take responsibility for all the technical aspects of this busy live entertainment venue, as well as advising and working across other Council venues.
Working with the existing management team you will communicate with artists, agencies, and incoming technical teams on all aspects of production and ensure The Platform, and the Council, maintain the highest reputation for technical expertise and excellence.
In addition, and as part of the Management team, you will also on occasion be required to oversee performances and provide duty management cover.
You will have a commitment and knowledge in sound, lighting and stage equipment, with excellent communication skills, and be able to discuss these requirements in depth with a range of stakeholders. A good proportion of the role will involve the opportunity to operate sound and lighting equipment on live performances using both analogue and digital formats.
You will also be required to develop and rota a small team of self-employed contracted technicians capable of supplying highly qualified and skilled professional technical support and services across the events programme.
This post is permanent. The hours are 22 hours per week working on a shift rota basis including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and possible split shifts. The post is based at The Platform in Morecambe, but you will be required to work from other venues in the district.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
