This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Local Council at the heart of the community, which delivers high quality services and puts customers first. It’s a great opportunity for someone with extensive electoral services knowledge and experience of line management to lead a high performing team and make the role their own.
The Electoral Services team manages and delivers all electoral and referenda events within the Borough and administers the Register of Electors. The role will be to manage the team, be responsible for project planning and delivery of all electoral events and ensure that the annual canvass is completed to a high standard. You will also act as a Deputy Returning Officer and Deputy Electoral Registration Officer when required.
We’re looking for someone with extensive knowledge and experience of working in Electoral Services, who also comes with excellent management capabilities.
Holding the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) Certificate in Electoral Administration is a requirement for the role.
You need to be confident and able to give accurate and timely advice to the most senior officers in the organisation, and to work effectively with a range of different people, from Members of Parliament to young electors.
A high level of accuracy, the ability to work under pressure to meet statutory deadlines, and a flexible attitude are essential.
Please be aware that this role requires working outside of normal hours in particular in the run up to an election. You will also need a driving licence and access to a car.
This is a politically sensitive role and as such you will be expected to work impartially with all political parties.
