We are looking for a Designated Officer (LADO) to join our Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service. 

This offers a great opportunity to play a key role in improving outcomes for Children and Families in Wokingham, with a senior leadership team committed to providing staff with support and development.

The ideal candidate will be organised, methodical and analytical in their approach and be able to communicate calmly and effectively with colleagues across the Directorate, with partner agencies and organisational leads within the children's workforce. 

Applicants must have a social work qualification and have at least four years post qualifying experience in children services and with experience of safeguarding, working confidently under pressure and to deadlines and be skilled in interpreting and implementing legislation and guidance.

This post will manage the Allegations against Staff and Volunteers Procedure and chair child protection conferences on a part time basis alongside the primary role.

The main responsibilities are;

To manage allegations against staff and volunteers effectively and in a timely way, ensuring that the Directorate meets its statutory duties.

To provide advice to organisations and individuals who work with or provide services to children

To raise awareness and provide training about managing allegations and the role of the Designated Officer

To maintain detailed records of allegations and write regular reports which support learning and our journey of continuous improvement
