An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to manage private sector housing service and ensure that the statutory duties of the Council with regard to private sector housing are met. Lead the private sector housing team, ensuring that officers within the team are resourced, competent and motivated to provide a high quality service
Develop and maintain an effective housing enforcement function across the borough working closely with other projects and departments to deliver effective regeneration.
To manage the housing enforcement team to ensure the councils statutory obligations in respect of licensing, housing conditions, illegal eviction, harassment and empty properties are met.
Provide expertise in respect of private sector housing and enforcement for strategies and policies developed by the housing service. Be responsible for ensuring that the council has an appropriate housing enforcement policy in place.
Ensure that private sector landlords and tenants are provided with high quality housing advice and support services as required, including information about their respective rights and obligations.
Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
Registration with a relevant professional body
Postgraduate Qualification in a relevant subject area, or relevant professional qualification and evidence of continuing professional development
Full driving licence.
Experience and consistent achievement at a management level in an organisation of comparable scope and complexity
A proven track record of managing budgets to high standards of probity
Experience of the delivery of strategic objectives and policies through effective service planning
Experience of leading, motivating and managing a team to achieve significant, sustainable improvements and positive outcomes through internal and external partnerships
Experience of local authority regulation and enforcement
