Croydon is London’s second largest borough. Effectively a city within the city, it is full of brilliant and diverse people, businesses and places.
As a council we’re going through tremendous change, from our evolving response to the pandemic, to our plans to radically reshape and renew our organisation as a result of financial challenges. We are essentially building a brand-new council around ourselves. One that is focused on getting things right for our residents, while delivering very differently and within a sustainable financial environment.
About the Croydon Digital Service
Digital capability and service redesign is critical to our renewal plans.
Established in 2019, the Croydon Digital Service (CDS) is one part of the council that has already transformed, replacing a traditional ICT department with a GDS-style service to support the digital transformation of the council’s internal operations and online services for residents. We are a small and creative team that achieves a lot with a little. We continuously iterate our culture and processes to enable all team members to bring their whole selves and do their best work.
We are signatories of the Local Digital Declaration, committing us to delivering user-centred services that meet the Government Service Standard, and to following the Technology Code of Practice. We seek to collaborate, wherever possible, with other local authorities to share learnings, ideas and solutions.
We work in the open, inviting feedback and input from our stakeholders. You can see examples of our work at www.croydon.digital – a site we share with the local tech community.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to join our delivery team initially managing the flow of work through the newly created Demand and Discovery squad.
The role of this new squad is to support the creation of robust business cases for digital projects and to prioritise the pipeline of these projects.

You will be expected to orchestrate agile best practice such as stand ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, roadmaps and backlogs (working with a product manager), and other transparent ways of working to ensure successful delivery and the continuous improvement of the team.
We are seeking an experienced candidate to be an evangelist for agile delivery who is proactive, innovative, and open to change. You must have strong experience of change management, stakeholder management, analysis, technical delivery and a focus on user needs. Ideally, you’ll have experience of managing discoveries in an agile culture, working in local government, or the public sector, but this isn’t essential.
We have lots of work to plan and deliver and the Senior Delivery Manager will play a pivotal role structuring and delivering our work to support the Croydon council renewal plan.
We are aim to do the shortlist w/c 6 September and to hold interviews between 20 September and mid October 2021
