A vacancy has arisen to join our busy Isle of Wight Council Software Development Team Council as full stack, Analyst Developer working on a wide range of web and software projects covering all areas of the Council.
This is an exciting and key time for the authority; as it looks to move to a ‘digital by default’ mindset, adopting Government Digital Services best practice approaches to support our digital strategy to ensure our community’s needs are met by the best public digital services. This includes a key project to deliver a new, revamped council website, that will shape the direction for the future of the council’s online digital experience, showcasing easy and accessible access to services and providing an exemplar digital platform for the authority.
We are looking for self-motivated and well organised IT professional, with significant experience of web and digital service analysis and development. These are challenging but highly rewarding roles that would suit highly motivated, committed and versatile individuals looking to join a high achieving, friendly and approachable software development team.
Your work will be varied covering the analysis, design, and development of new and existing corporate web and software applications solutions. Enabling efficient business processes and electronic local government service delivery for the Isle of Wight Council, its employees, business partners, service stakeholders and members of the public.
The successful candidates should have a sound and up to date knowledge and experience of server and client- side development technologies including:
- Microsoft.Net Core / Microsoft .Net MVC
- C# and Object Orientated programming
- Microsoft SQL Server / Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
- Webservices REST/SOAP/WCF/JSON
- Source code versioning and management – Microsoft DevOps and GIT
- Agile Development Methodologies (Scrum)
As a systematic, disciplined and analytical problem solver, you will demonstrate a proactive approach, the ability to prioritise your workload within demanding schedules, excellent communication skills and the ability to take ownership.
You will have a flexible, creative, innovative and customer focused approach to your work and enjoy being part of a team. You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of project and development teams, supporting both smaller and major development projects.
During the Covid situation, these positions currently require remote working, with potential for flexible remote and/or office-based working going forward. The main ICT offices are based in Seaclose, Newport, Isle of Wight
