About the role

The Governors and Headteacher at Battle and Langton Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work in our popular, friendly and supportive school.

The role entails working 1-1 and with small groups, supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to access both the curriculum and the wider aspects of school life.  The postholder will support children within our Specialist Nurture Provision - The Pod and in the mainstream classroom setting. We want someone who is understanding, nurturing and can take account of children’s needs and stage of development. There will be additional training available and may suit a candidate that is considering a career in special education.

The successful candidate should:

- have experience of working with children who display a range of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties

- Can support the teacher in recording pupil progress, activities and behaviour

- have a calm, patient and friendly manner with children

- have the ability to use their own initiative and with the support of other school staff, be able to adapt according to each child's individual needs

-  Is able to implement planned learning activities as directed by the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupil’s abilities

- Is very flexible, quick to learn and adapt to change

- have a 'can-do' attitude and can display resilience within their role

- feel confident to manage behaviour effectively and seek advice when needed

The successful  candidate will be required to participate in whole school activities and to support the Christian ethos of the school.

Hours: 30 hours per week. Term time only. Working times to be negotiated. Start date September 2021.
