Business, Work and Skills Coordinator
Scale 5 (£26,511 - £32,234 per annum)
5 Days per week (37 hours)
Our busy Economic & Community Development, Work and Skills Team are seeking to recruit to the exciting role of Business, Work and Skills Officer.
As part of a busy team, you will be speaking directly to businesses within the district via the Business Hub. The hub was established during the pandemic and has offered support to many businesses during these difficult times. This role will play a key part in the recovery from the pandemic - in terms of the work and skills agenda, supporting our businesses, encouraging new investment and growth in the district whilst, promoting our great location and transport links, making us a great place.
Effective partnership working is essential to build back after the pandemic and add real value to recovery planning. Our work and skills offer is being delivered with partners and, includes a pathway for those who are furthest from the job market, alongside the work and skills hub that is planned in 2021 - we also aim to support those who are more recently unemployed due to the pandemic.
We have a number of strategic growth sites within the district and we have worked in partnership to establish the best outcomes for businesses and residents. A work and skills project at Lubbesthorpe has seen a lot of success, winning the LGC Best Housing Initiative Award 2019 and, the Employment, Skills and Training scheme, East Midlands Residential Property Award for best Skills and Training Scheme of the Year 2019. We intend to continue to deliver high quality projects across other sectors and the successful candidate will be a part of the team that coordinates the work and skills offer for the district.
You should have experience working with businesses to support development and growth and be familiar with agencies that drive economic growth. Ideally, you will have experience of leading work and skills projects and have a variety of skills to get the job done. You will also be able to develop and manage effective working relationships with a wide range of partners and external organisations such as Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Department for Work and Pensions, Federation of Small Businesses, Job Centre Plus, Probation Service, and Leicestershire County Council or other local authorities.
You should have a great track record of successful projects you have coordinated with key attributes to include well developed communication, persuasive and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to cope with a variable and demanding workload, experience of self-evaluation of services and action planning.
A full driving license and access to your own transport is required.
