Barnsley Adult Social Care have several exciting opportunities/vacancies for qualified social workers.
You will be working with either a locality team covering the South and Dearne areas of Barnsley or the Hospital team.
The roles involve working with and supporting adults over the age of 18 years. The locality team predominantly works with those with a physical disability or because they are over the age of 65 – other assessments are carried out due to other vulnerabilities such as exploitation and self-neglect.
You will need knowledge of the legal frameworks that guide and influence the work of Adult Social Care. The roles will include carrying out assessments and reviews under the Discharge to Assess procedures, Care Act 2014 - working with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and assessing mental capacity,– additional work may lead to and organising best interest meetings and making applications to the Court of Protection. The roles also include working with adult safeguarding procedures and working with the Making Safeguarding Personal agenda.
A multi-disciplinary approach is a key part of the roles, including being part of assessments where continuing health care is of consideration, working closely with health colleagues to promote safe and timely discharges, assessing service users in hospital and at home, whilst working closely with Reablement services to ensure strengths-based outcomes are achieved.
