About the role

Do you love the city of Brighton & Hove? Do you have the communication skills to tell the story of how we are helping to create wonderful places to live, work and visit? Do you understand communities and how to reach them?

The city has an enviable number of historic buildings, whilst also embracing the new. We place a strong emphasis on high quality and accessible designs and are leading on major construction projects across the city, from the Royal Pavilion Estate to New Homes for Neighbourhoods.

We are looking for a creative and dynamic communications professional to take forward and demonstrate how the council is supporting the city through development services, such as planning, building control and major projects.

As part of the communications team, you will be improving customer and user access to the website, and creating a digital space to keep the public, stakeholders and potential investors up to date with development projects and initiatives.

In this unique role, you will be engaging with diverse communities across Brighton & Hove so that all our residents can have the opportunity to participate and benefit from developments in the city.

You will also work with colleagues across the council, customers, and residents to help build the profile of one of England’s busiest and most improved planning services. This includes highlighting how people and organisations can get involved in shaping developments through traditional and social media, internal and marketing channels.

You will promote the ambitions set out in our City Plans and support the council’s commitment to become Carbon Neutral by 2030.

Through your experience and skill you’ll be able to demonstrate project management, excellent partnership working and a focus on including all communities.

A fixed-term contract is available for one year, with the potential to extend to 24 months subject to funding.
