Role located at Shute End with the requirement to work from other Wokingham Borough Council buildings from time to time.
Wokingham has a clear ambition that services should be locally focused and responsive to the needs of residents and traders. To deliver our ambition we are bringing environmental health functions back in-house from 1 April 2022.
Our new Enforcement & Safety Service needs a progressive and effective leader. Our new service will have a primary focus on meeting the needs of our local community, providing excellent customer experiences, with an initial priority of establishing a visible 7-day a week anti-social behaviour rapid response and resolution service. You’ll oversee our environmental health & licensing teams to deliver our locally focussed strategy and lead on the preparatory work necessary to design, implement and mobilise in readiness for the April 2022 launch of the new service.
It’s a key, senior role where in addition to managing the service, you’ll act as an adviser, guiding Members and senior Officers. What’s more, you’ll play an integral role in designing or commissioning services to drive forward our local agenda, and building operational collaboration with other local public sector providers and partners. Political awareness and a corporate and collaborative approach will be essential.
You will have a proven track record of leadership and significant managerial achievement in customer satisfaction, solution-seeking enforcement, and excellent people skills.
