Kent County Council are looking for an Experienced Social Worker to be part of an innovative service, improving the lives of individuals on forensic Mental Health Act pathways.
The Community Forensic Social Work Service works alongside Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust to support individuals on forensic pathways in the community instead of in secure hospitals. This can reduce inequalities, improve quality of life, and have a genuine impact on the lives of individuals, instilling hope and realising real change.
This is a rare chance to be part of this service and will provide opportunities to develop your skills and your career. You will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team delivering the local authority’s statutory duties to support the transition of individuals out of secure hospitals into the community, including acting as a social supervisor where necessary.
You will have experience in mental health, learning disability or autism settings, and experience of working with people who have complex and diverse needs and risks and of utilising person-centred, strengths and rights-based approaches.
You will be an Approved Mental Health Professional and will have completed Practice Educator Stage 1 or be willing to undertake this training. We are also interested in receiving applications from qualified Best Interests Assessors.
The service is based at the Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone, Kent, but you will be working across a wide geographical area so the ability to travel in a timely manner according to business needs is essential.
Kent County Council offers a competitive range of employee benefits and flexible employment conditions to help staff reach their full potential.
This post offers a ‘Golden Hello’ of £2,000 to the successful candidate if appointed from outside of Kent County Council.
A relocation assistance scheme may also be available to applicants who live a significant distance from the stated office base.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 7th October 2021
