Permanent, 37 hours per week – shift pattern on a weekly rota covering business hours of 8.30 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Salary: £18,905 per annum
Are you interested in a varied role? As a Crematorium Technician at the Kent and Sussex Crematorium, you will be a key team player within a team providing a very important service for the bereaved families of Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas.
This is a customer facing role and you will need to demonstrate first class customer service skills, with a willingness to help people at a difficult and potentially very distressing time in their life.
Key parts of this role are that you will be assisting the bereaved families, the service users such as Funeral Directors, and Celebrants, during funeral services by being present in the chapel and operating our bespoke media system.
You will also carry out the final cremation process itself, for which training is provided, in a professional, respectful, and dignified manner.
The grounds will need your expert eye, checking plaques, permits, floral tributes, weeding, with a view to enhance the experience of all visitors attending the crematorium.
You will be working as part of a small team, completing tasks on a rota basis, either assisting within the crematorium chapel, working in the grounds, aiding with administration in the office or carrying out the cremation process.
Elements of this role require some physical exertion and working outside in all weathers, along with basic maintenance of some machinery (training provided).
There will be a need on occasion, to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
An Experienced Cremation Technician holding the ICCM BTEC Accredited Cremation Technician training certificate (CTTS) is preferred, although applications are encouraged from those without this certificate, as full training can be given to the right candidate. (training period of 6 months)
