(You will be required to work occasional Saturday/Bank Holiday mornings via rota and could be required to work some evenings at times).

Your New Role

This team requires an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Team Leader (one of two Team Leader posts within the YOT) who would enjoy the challenge of working in this important service for Portsmouth’s children

You will supervise a number for practitioner staff and will support high quality service delivery to reduce reoffending through your knowledge of youth justice effective practice and supervision and development of staff. This will be done through regular quality supervision, opportunities for reflective practice and the Chairing of meetings. You will ensure that children are central to assessment, planning and intervention and the views of children, parents/carers and victims are properly embedded in all aspects of service planning and delivery.   You will have responsibility for assuring the quality of casework and ensure that YOT practitioners are completing statutory tasks in a timely way so as to meet the needs of vulnerable chidren to a high standard.  You will work with a range of partner agencies to co-ordinate, plan, commission and deliver services to vulnerable children who have offended. You will be expected to liaise with colleagues both within and outside the YOT in order to ensure it delivers youth justice services in partnership with other organisations, including both the children's and adult's workforce.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have a diploma/degree/Msc/Professional qualification in a relevant (e.g. Probation, Social Work, Education or Health) with necessary registration (if required). In addition you will have substantial post qualification experience of working with vulnerable children in a relevant field. Experience of working or managing in a Youth Offending Team is desirable.
