An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Home Improvement Agency team as an Assistant Technical Officer. You will be joining an established and successful multi-disciplined team within Housing, supporting residents of West Berkshire with much needed adaptations and/or repairs to their homes.
Much of our work is focused around assisting disabled and vulnerable people to remain independent in their own homes. Working in this highly varied and challenging role, you will support the Technical Officer to adapt our clients’ homes and help to improve their quality of life. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is keen to learn, has great customer service and is a team player.
You will support the Technical Officer with preparing technical specifications and plans, tendering contracts, submitting Planning and Building Regulation applications (where appropriate), liaising with contractors and overseeing the full adaptations process from inception to completion. No formal construction qualification is required as all training and support will be provided. However, the post holder must be willing to undertake a HNC in Construction and the Built Environment as part of this role.
We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.
West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days per annum rising to a maximum of 32 days.
Please contact Simon Howe (Technical Officer) on 01635 519506 for an informal chat about this role.
