Purchasing Assistant (Purchase to Pay Team)

The role sits within the Purchase to Pay team in Lewes, who are part of our Business Operations Department making payments to suppliers/ vendors used by East Sussex County Council.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Input transactions to SAP to ensure that payments to suppliers/vendors are completed promptly and effectively in accordance with County Council policies, procedures, systems and legislative requirements. Although this post is for a Purchasing Assistant, with blended roles across the Purchase to Pay Team, your transitional activity will be include Purchasing (creation of vendors, Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts) and Accounts Payable (Invoice and NON Purchase Order payments).

- The ability to balance demands to meet tight deadlines, whilst ensuring flexibility of service
- Dealing with a very high number of different providers of services and suppliers
- Complexity of different payment processes and a range of systems utilised.
- Dealing with complex queries to resolve payment and recovery issues
To succeed in this role you’ll be a great communicator with good MS Office skills and possess an eye for detail along with a real passion for delivering awesome customer service in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Your ability to remain calm under pressure whilst working to tight deadlines within a team environment will be essential. - Financial systems experience with excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
- Ability and experience of communicating clearly and concisely at all levels.

Please note, if you are the successful candidate, training to take place at County Hall, Lewes. You will be required to work at home thereafter due to COVID constraints until a migration back to the office has been agreed.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
