Your New Role
You will be responsible for helping and supporting children and young people between 0 and 25 years of age who have, or are applying to have, an Education Health and Care Plan by exploring with them, their parents and carers their aspirations, support needs and the available options which in turn will lead to them making informed and realistic choices, coordinating the statutory assessment process and supporting others to do so, monitoring and reviewing EHC Plans and working with the SEN Service Manager to ensure the LA's duties with regards to statutory assessment, monitoring and reviews are delivered.
What you'll need to succeed
An appropriate qualification in Education, Social Care, Advice and Guidance or equivalent or be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with children, young people and families in an education, health or social care environment.
In addition you need a specific and detailed knowledge of special educational needs and disability and current legislation and policies affecting work with children, young people and their families e.g. SEN Code of Practice 2014 and Children and Families Act 2014.
A clear understanding of Appeals to the First-tier Tribunal Special Educational Needs and Disability, including the single route of redress national trial and of the role of the
Local authority in relation to special educational needs and disability.
