Shape a better future with us:
We’re thrilled to have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status for how we lead, support and develop people. Now we’d like you to be part of our success and help us take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.
Your role in our journey:
An exciting 12-month fixed term opportunity has arisen in the Children’s Quality Assurance and Service Improvement Team for a Quality Assurance and Governance Officer. The post is to cover maternity leave within the Children’s Social Care and Safeguarding Service.
Barnsley Council has a vision for a bright future for children and young people in a better Barnsley. There is ambition, imagination and a strong drive for continuous improvement across the Council. Within social care and safeguarding services, we want to deliver outstanding services for children and families. The framework designed to secure this ambition is the Barnsley Continuous Service Improvement Framework. As a Quality Assurance and Governance Officer you will help lead and support the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance Framework within children’s services and you will play a lead role in ensuring the framework is embedded in business as usual practice. You will lead and support a range of quality assurance activities, including case file auditing and themed deep dives, producing and presenting written reports of findings, key messages and working with services to derive actions for improvement which support the partnership to develop and deliver services to the highest standards, achieving the very best outcomes for children and families.
Working as part of a team you will support internal and external inspection work including preparing for and dealing with statutory assessments as well as commissioned peer reviews.
What you’ll need:
To join us, you’ll need to be educated to degree level, have a good understanding of quality assurance and service improvement methods and be passionate about improving outcomes for children and families. The ideal candidate will hold a professional Social Work, health or education qualification, with practice experience and knowledge where you can contribute to shaping ‘even better’ outcomes for children and families across services by drawing on learning and experiences from within operational practice.
A lot to look forward to
Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a wider team who can really make a difference to improving outcomes for children, young people and families in the Borough.
