An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Team for a Community Protection and Enforcement Officer to work alongside other members of the team to help deliver the District Council’s Enforcement Strategy. Working across Huntingdonshire, you will respond to calls for service in relation to Environmental Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) to ensure that the District remains a safe place to live, work and visit.
As a Community Protection and Enforcement Officer, you will work both alone as well as in partnership with both internal and external services and organisations to affectively address issues of:
- Fly tipping;
- Abandoned vehicles;
- Dog related issues including stray dogs and dog fouling;
- Littering, including littering from vehicles; and
- Anti-Social Behaviour and community matters of concern
Reporting to the Senior Community Protection and Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that reported incidents are investigated, analysed and appropriate action taken to achieve a successful outcome.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with members of the community as well as Parish, Town and District Councillors to share and receive information regarding community issues as well as support our customers as required.
The role will require the successful candidate to have a working knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to Environmental Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour. Experience in the delivery of these powers would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enthusiasm for problem solving and utilising the tools and powers available to them;
- One or more A Levels, or equivalent experience of working with the public;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience of using a case management system for monitoring calls for service;
- A customer focus;
- The ability to remain calm, polite and professional in confrontational situations;
- The ability to work outside in all weathers as well as in an office environment;
- A full driving license and ability to drive District Council owned vehicles.
You will need to be able to work flexibly in line with the needs of the role which may include occasional weekend working.
