An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to work within the South East Wales Adoption Service (SEWAS) section of the Children’s Services department. Contributing to the development and provision of the adoption service, you will provide a service to all persons affected by adoption including birth families, adoptive families and adopted adults.
As Senior Social Work Practitioner (SEWAS) you will be required to promote understanding of adoption and safeguarding matters in the Team and to comply with safeguarding procedures and practices. Effectively managing an appropriate caseload, you will maintain accurate up to date case recording, ensuring that appropriate information is available for service users and carers. You will also work effectively as a team member and contribute to the development of the team by identify training needs of newly qualified and unqualified staff, liaising with the Training Section to identify the most appropriate support
Other duties include gathering, analysing and presenting performance information, chairing meetings as requested by management and working in cooperation with colleagues and with other agencies in order to provide an efficient service to service users and carers.
Qualifications essential to the role are a CQSW; Diploma in Social Work or equivalent and you must be registered as a Social Worker by the Care Council for Wales.
Essential knowledge/skills include, but are not restricted to;
- Post qualifying experience in child care social work including experience of adoption work,
- Experience of undertaking assessments, developing and implementing care / support plans,
- Experience of assessment of need and assessment of risk,
- Knowledge of current legislation,
- Comprehensive knowledge of working within a statutory Children’s Services.
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
