Uttlesford is a thriving, predominantly rural district in north-west Essex encompassing Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet and Thaxted and about 100 villages and hamlets in between. It is home to London Stansted Airport and major road and rail networks with links to London to the south and historic city of Cambridge to the north.
We are looking for a temporary Customer Service Advisor on a full time basis (37 hours) based on office working hours Monday-Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm AND Friday 8.30am-4.30pm.
The post holder will be part of the Customer Service Team who are mainly working from home at present. The Team’s aim is to ensure as many enquiries as possible are resolved at the first point of contact to maximise customer satisfaction. Enquiries will be dealt with via the telephone, live chat, email and some face-to-face giving advice and assistance on the whole range of District Council services as well as County, Parish, and the local community and other partner organisations. Enquiries will be dealt with by using various systems so candidates will need to demonstrate that they are highly skilled in IT and the general use of technology.
We are looking for an individual who is a good communicator at all levels. The ideal candidate will be patient and cheerful, have experience of dealing with customers and be able to work under pressure. Ideally, the candidate will have extensive computer experience (although some training will be given). They will need to demonstrate that they have the ability to provide an excellent service to all customers contacting the Council in accordance with the Council’s Customer Charter and ensure that a positive image of the Council is conveyed at all times.
The post holder may be expected at times to support any of the Customer Service Centres at Saffron Walden, Stansted, Great Dunmow and Thaxted, so there is a need for the post holder to be flexible. A full clean driving licence is essential along with the ability to travel within the District, often at short notice.

The Government is relaxing the current Covid-19 restrictions from 19 July, however Uttlesford District Council has decided that there will be no immediate change in working practices so you may be required to work from home wherever possible. However these working arrangements will be discussed and agreed with you by your line manager. This will be reviewed as and when the Council agrees new ways of working.
