Principal Finance Officer at East Sussex County Council
Are you looking for the opportunity to use your financial knowledge and experience to make a real difference?
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to support Children’s Services achieve the best outcomes for East Sussex’s children and young people in our Service Finance team.
As a Principal Finance Officer, you will be a trusted business partner and advisor, providing financial insight and guidance to your clients enabling the best use of resources and effective decision-making. You will be passionate about delivering high quality customer service and be able to support other team members deliver the same.
You will be comfortable with the complexity of working with multiple funding streams and able to challenge and influence the Service you support to achieve their service outcomes.
- You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to present complex information to a wide range of stakeholders, including non-finance experts.
- You will be able to demonstrate business partnering excellence and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- You will be proficient with ICT tools: Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams. SAP experience would be beneficial.
- You will have a sound knowledge of financial processes and ideally been involved in setting up processes in the past.
- You will be a self-starter, organised, self-motivated and be able to demonstrate drive and creativity.
You will be either an AAT qualified, part/fully qualified CCAB/CIMA accountant or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge through experience.
This is a permanent SS11 Principal Finance Officer position. The salary would be £33,145 – £35,812 (pending any 21/22 pay award).
This position will be based in Lewes (although we are currently working remotely under Covid-19 restrictions and currently reviewing longer term arrangements). There may be some travel across the county to support the Service as necessary.
Other Useful Information
At the time of this advert, our service is mostly working from home. Assessments and interviews will be undertaken via Microsoft Teams. You will need to possess the flexibility and skills to support remote induction to the team and to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders remotely.
