Are you ready for a team as passionate about Mental Health Services as you?

Are you ready for a team as passionate about Adult Safeguarding Services as you?

Are you able to lead a dedicated team of likeminded professionals?

Do you want balance between work and home, with flexible / agile working and 31 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)?

Here on the Isle of Wight we strive to be the best we can be for our community, with talented Social Care professionals leading the way. We are a hard-working team and it doesn’t go unnoticed, in fact, we’ve just been named as finalists for one of the most prestigious awards in Adult Social Care - The MJ Awards 2021 in the Care and Health Integration category!

This is your opportunity as a Mental Health and Safeguarding specialist, to join us as Service Manager looking after Mental Health, AMHP provision and Adult Safeguarding services. Each team boasts a passionate, enthusiastic Group Manager, that cares deeply about the needs of those we serve and the colleagues they support. Now we need you to guide and progress these teams to continue their invaluable work in our community.

As a Service Manager in Team IWC you’ll be well supported, with access to coaching, leadership support and a strong team working above, below, and alongside you. We offer excellent management development, working in partnership with NHS trust colleagues, ensuring you’ll get the most from your career.

To succeed you’ll need to be dedicated to integrated working with Mental Health services, with a firm grasp of the importance and value of statutory duties within a Local Authority environment and you’ll need a substantial knowledge of the work of Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and that of Safeguarding duties and responsibilities.

Our focus on integration will enable you to gain wider knowledge and understanding of Health and Social Care and how these provisions can successfully collaborate. Your goal will be to continue our integration journey with local health partners, building on the great work already achieved in establishing integrated locality teams and an integrated complex discharge team within our local hospital setting. With your support, we will move forward with our models of integration for teams in:

· Mental Health
· Learning Disability
· Resource Centre’s Rehab & Reablement

Adult safeguarding is a vital element of our service and we need a specialist with in-depth knowledge of safeguarding arrangements and full understanding of the interface and requirements of the Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB).

The Isle of Wight Council actively embraces specialist work areas. We have transformed our workforce into specialist Social Work teams focused on:

· Long Term Conditions and Older People
· Mental Health & Hospital Services
· Learning Disability and Short-Term Resources.

Additionally, the last 4 years have seen our whole service focusing on enabling individuals to live independent lives, with our innovative ‘Care Closer to Home’ strategy, and we are seeing impressive results. You can read up on this scheme here.

As well as being a great place to work, we also offer a competitive remuneration package including:

· Competitive rates of pay and allowances
· Annual leave entitlement of 31 days p/a (plus public holidays)
· Local Government pension scheme
· Relocation package (if eligible) of up to £8,000 plus home relocation scheme via Help to Buy

· Travel allowance (if eligible) and discounted Solent ferry travel
· Island bus network discount, cycle to work scheme and staff parking permit scheme

· Discounted island sports & leisure gym membership
· National and local discounts & benefits schemes
· Access to private health care packages

If you have experience in leading, developing and operationally managing Mental Health and Safeguarding in Social Care and would like to explore this opportunity, we’d be delighted to discuss our aspirations with you in an informal ‘meet the team’ virtual setting. To arrange this please contact Katie Bosworth-Trower via katie.bosworth-trower@iow.gov.uk or call on 01983 821000 ext. 6982.
