About the role

As exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to provide professional assistance and advice to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service staff on all matters 
pertaining to health, safety and wellbeing. The post holder will work with internal clients across the Service to embed a positive health and safety culture; promote 
proactive local health & safety management; support with policy development and revision and provide the Service with assurances that the statutory obligations are being met by undertaking audits across the Service. The role will also support the Strategic Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager in carrying out and meeting the requirements of 
the named “competent person” as defined in regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations 1999.

The successful candidate should be a member of an appropriate professional body, hold a Health and Safety NEBOSH diploma or equivalent, as well as having 
extensive experience of operating in a similar role. A good working knowledge of Microsoft applications gained in a work environment, together with a working knowledge and experience in Health and Safety data collection systems are essential. 

The post requires the post holder to have mobility sufficient to enable travel throughout the county and, on occasion, the region and nationally and the ability to undertake critical safety management audits and investigations.
