About the role
Within Learning Disability Services, supported employment service ‘Steps to Work’ we are seeking Job Coaches who bring experience, skill, motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to a newly formed team.
As a Job Coach you will be at the forefront of the service, delivering direct support to people with learning disabilities and or autism to enable them to access and retain employment.
Our ‘Steps to Work’ supported employment service will focus on either skill building where as a Job Coach you will be supporting clients, with their learning by delivering work experience opportunities and training, leading to qualifications for clients AND / OR with job seeking and supporting clients into employment be it paid or unpaid work and engaging with employers for sustainable employment.
In the current climate it can be challenging but ultimately rewarding. You would bring a resilient and creative approach to supporting clients to achieve their employment goals.
Within our current portfolio of work experience and training opportunities we have a car valet service in Lewes and Eastbourne and a Café in Uckfield. You will be involved in delivering these as standalone businesses, alongside clients so that they build their skills and gain relevant work experience with your support, so that they can move into employment.
You will be key within the service to develop a range of work experience and work (paid and unpaid) opportunities across East Sussex and within the County Council for people with learning disabilities and autism and as a Job Coach you will be involved in the support clients need, tracking their progress to ensure their employment outcomes are achieved.
Maintaining people in their employment will also be part of this role so that clients are supported with sustainable employment, therefore being able to negotiate and work with employers will be key so that people can be supported to fulfil their employment aspirations and achieve social and economic inclusion.
In addition to the right core values you will bring experience in this area along with good communication and organisational skills. The role is diverse and rewarding. You will receive excellent training opportunities and support through induction and supervision as part of our commitment to you. This role is being part of a county wide service and will involve frequent travelling around East Sussex and at short notice. Being a car driver and having access to a vehicle for work is essential to this role. Applicants will need to demonstrate how they can meet the travel requirements as part of the shortlisting criteria.
