About the Job

As a Public Health Specialist you will apply your knowledge of public health policy and practice to provide specialist advice and support across the three domains of public health, but with a particular focus on health protection.  You would be joining the team at a key time, as the team continues to provide public health leadership in response to the pandemic and post-pandemic recovery.

You should be familiar with interpreting surveillance data and information and be confident in communicating and presenting complex information to diverse audiences in a way that different groups can understand.

About You

With a passion for improving population health and wellbeing, you will be enthusiastic about building and working in partnership with stakeholders and communities across Havering to prevent and respond to infectious outbreaks, including Covid-19.

You should have a first degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.  You should have sound knowledge of public health policy and strategy, needs assessments, literature reviews, epidemiology, health protection and health inequalities, and be able to evidence experience of applying this knowledge in practice. 

You will be expected to participate in continuing professional development.

Location: The majority of the workforce works remotely, but where it is necessary for staff to travel to the borough

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 36 per week
