The Council’s Legal Services department is looking to expand its team.
The Legal Assistant post is to assist the Authority with its varied property and planning work. You will work closely with external solicitors and/or barristers to provide timely advice and assistance to the Council’s Planning Department. This will involve work on major planning projects, planning agreements and planning committees. You will also work closely with the Council’s Property Solicitor on residential and commercial matters and the Local Land Charges Officer on the Council’s local land charges register. This will involve drafting legal documents, liaising with external solicitors, dealing with local land charges matters, legal research, preparation of lease documentation and working with the Council’s Planning and Property departments.
This post is temporary for 9 months (maternity cover). The hours of work for this position are 22.2 per week, working 3 days. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall however remote working is permitted at the Line Managers discretion.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
