Following our Future Council Review, we are seeking highly motivated experienced staff to complement the council’s Neighbourhood Services Team in delivering efficient and effective grounds-based services to the borough of Barnsley.
The duties associated with the role will include the following:
- Hard and soft landscaping
- Erecting / repairing fencing
- Removal / installation of litter / dog bins
- Grass / hedge cutting
- Flower / shrub bed stripping, planting and maintenance
- Tree planting
- Minor arbor work
- Fly tipping removal, litter collection, litter bin emptying
- Snow clearing & gritting

The role could be based at any of the depot location associated with the operations of Neighbourhood Services and will be subject to change based on service need.
You will be expected to have a flexible approach to working duties and report directly to the respective Team Leader and carry out allocated work in accordance with the respective Job Profile to a high standard of safety and quality.
You will have experience of working in all weather conditions and will be able to undertake strenuous duties, often under pressure to meet targets and deadlines while also remaining effective and efficient at all times.
The ability to work and integrate with established teams is essential. You will be able to interpret plans, drawings and briefing notes and be able to communicate effectively with service users, including members of the public, Council officers and ward members.
