Putting Prevention at the heart of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service we are looking to recruit new talent into the Community Safety Team. This role is both exciting and rewarding; developing and promoting safety especially to the most vulnerable in Surrey.

  • Can you design, deliver and manage creative campaigns and events, both face to face and online, that:
    • engage both large and small groups of people
    • cultivate the instinct of safety: from fire, on the roads, around water and from other emergencies
    • promote the Community Safety Team and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service?
  • Are you driven to achieve, a great communicator and enjoy working with a range of people from different backgrounds, ages and abilities?
  • Are you able to build rapport, develop collaborative partnerships with organisations and people who have a shared vision and purpose; to support and sponsor our varied safety campaigns and events?
  • Are you innovative, have a creative approach and a can-do attitude?
  • Are you organised, efficient, able to work under pressure, anticipate and resolve problems?
  • Would you like to use your skills in a fire service setting?

This is a new position that gives you an opportunity to develop campaigns and events for the Community Safety Team and inform Surrey Fire and Rescue Service’s strategy through evaluation and reporting success.

You will lead the local delivery of national community safety initiatives and play a key role in shaping publicity materials, including digital and social media safety messages to inform and raise public awareness.

The Community Safety Team delivers a wide variety of initiatives including Safe Drive Stay Alive (SDSA), Firewise Scheme, the Youth Engagement Scheme (YES), Fire Cadets, Safe and Well Visits to vulnerable adults, fire investigations and education programmes in schools across Surrey. You will report to the Children and Young People Team Manager and be part of the Community Safety Team.

Nominally based at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Woodhatch Place, Reigate, this position will require you to work in a variety of locations across Surrey. You may also be required to attend local, regional or national meetings associated with your role

On appointment, you will receive a full induction to the organisation and role and have access to continuous professional development (CPD).

The starting salary for this position is £35,382 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.
