At Bradford MBC our Children's Services is on an improvement journey and we are currently looking for highly experienced and dedicated Level 3 Social Workers to join our MASH team part of the Integrated Front Door service.

About us

We now have a strong senior leadership team with a clear vision who are driving positive change to ensure that the children of the Bradford district receive a high quality service.  At the request of our Social Workers and to support us in our quest to improve we have redesigned how we deliver our Children’s Social Care Services.

The Integrated Front Door continues to evolve and it is therefore an exciting time to be part of the development of the service.  We have already made significant progress in line with our improvement plan including the development of an ‘Information & Advice line’, a clear Pathway (Help or Harm) and improved quality of screening. This has allowed us to ensure we are providing support to the right children & families proportionately and at the earliest possible opportunity. We are ambitious about our children in Bradford and have some exciting practice developments to support the next part of our journey.

We understand that Social Work is not easy and that the challenges you face daily are difficult and emotional we are therefore committed to providing monthly personal supervision as well as regular group sessions.  Your emotional health is extremely important to us which is why you will have access to a range of wellbeing support groups.  As part of our commitment to your general wellbeing we will ensure a good work life balance and work from home options.

Your ongoing training and career development is as important to us as it is to you.  To support you in your work we are dedicated to ensuring you receive the training you require and have developed and continue to develop a significant training offer.  The opportunities within Bradford to progress for example from Level 3 Social Worker to Practice Supervisor are excellent and we will do everything we can to support you in your efforts to do so.

Joining an authority which is on an improvement plan may seem a daunting prospect however we are committed to making a positive change not only for our service users but also for our social work teams.

About the role

The Integrated Front Door service is a fast paced environment dealing with all of our new referrals and making decisions about where the need of the child or young person is best met whether that is with support from our Prevention and Early Help Services, or protection with our Social Work service or whether there is no intervention required.

The MASH has five Team Managers and three dedicated and passionate Practice Supervisors to support the service.  You will be working alongside partners such as Health, Police, and Early Help located within the Integrated Front door to provide a high quality seamless service to children, young people and their families at the earliest point of contact. You will be ensuring that Bradford MBC meets it statutory duty in enabling children and young people to remain safe, prioritising the most vulnerable and at risk in accordance with the Continuum of need threshold document.

We would welcome Social Workers who feel confident in threshold application and recognise the importance of partnership working to safeguard children. We are keen to develop a culture where we are able to balance quality against compliance given the fast paced nature of the work in the Integrated Front Door.

The Integrated Front Door service is based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, just a short walk away from the buzz of our multi-cultural city, which showcases wonderful architecture, an array of fantastic eateries and independent shops.

The district

Bradford is a city which offers a richness of culture and diversity; it is the fourth largest Metropolitan District in the country and home to a population of 534,300 residents. Bradford has the largest percentage of population under the age of 16 outside London; over 30% of the population is under the age of 20.  With these statistics in mind you will develop your understanding of different cultures and learn how being culturally competent can enhance your relationships with children and their families and ultimately produce more positive outcomes.  A Social Worker who is multilingual could see joining Bradford as a way to enhance their translation skills and in turn develop long lasting and trusting relationships with the families they support.

Bradford and its surrounding areas has a great deal to offer.  Housing is affordable and there are many desirable residential neighbourhoods within a reasonable commute of the city.  As you would expect from any city, rail links are excellent, frequent and fast. Leeds is 20 minutes away, whilst Manchester is an hour.  Bradford is on the Airedale Line which connects the city with the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the lovely market town of Skipton which is also the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.  Motorway links are good and convenient with the M606 being just 2 miles drive from our offices.

How to apply

If you have the relevant qualification, experience and drive to join Bradford and make a difference at this key time, we would love to hear from you.   Please feel free to contact Rebecca Allinson on 07855 177065 or alternatively please email your CV to rebecca.allinson@bradford.gov.uk
