Please note that due to the high volume of applications, we do reserve the right to close this role earlier than the advertised closing date.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to lead a team of 7 (seven) Enforcement (Parking) Officers within a busy Community Safety Unit (CSU) environment.
You will work towards the Council’s aspirations of ‘keeping Dartford Moving’ in terms of congestion and parking contraventions and ensuring, through fair and robust enforcement activity, that offenders are dealt with effectively.
As well as the supervision of the Enforcement (Parking) Officer team, you will prepare and complete relevant administration including duty rosters, leave and sick records. You will report on and complete regular parking ticket machine audits and ensure that they are operational as well as dealing with operational problems on-street and off- street when required.
- You will respond to the public’s enquiries in a positive, helpful manner and report all suspicious vehicles, persons or activities to the Police via the CSU and act as a proactive supervisor in the wider Community Safety Unit team.
- You will maintain a high profile presence at all times whilst patrolling on-street and in pay and display car parks, issuing penalty charge notices if contraventions have taken place.
- You will supervise and control the installation or removal of parking area signs cones and notices and attend adjudication hearings as a witness for the Council as and when required.
The Community Safety Unit is a co- located office with other council teams and Kent Police and whilst supervising a team of 7 officers, you may also be involved, on occasions, with the work of other officers who deal with enforcement, licencing and Community Safety.
This is a two year fixed contract post, with the possibility of it becoming a permanent post after the two year term. Some out of hours and weekend working will occasionally be required. You should hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for which a mileage allowance will be paid.
Interviews will take place during July / August 2021 (dates to be confirmed).
Please note, a rota system is operated between 7am and 9pm Mon-Sat (including Bank Holidays where necessary). The rota is designed to deliver efficient services to cover both ends of the day to maximise necessary enforcement.
