We are seeking to recruit a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to supervise the safe delivery of the high-profile services of Waste Collection. The Supervisor role will be responsible for the efficient and safe collection of both domestic and trade general waste and recycling.
This is a responsible post, and it is essential that you have an appreciation of the contribution that good waste management practices can have to improving the environment and the image of the Council. You must possess good communication skills and be able to supervise and motivate a large team. You will also have the ability to undertake a range of duties and to learn quickly, as well as undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision. You will be required to work successfully both as part of a team and independently.
The hours for this role are 37 hours per week, working five days out of six on a shift rota basis and you will be based at White Lund Depot. You must be flexible, as early morning, evening and weekend work may be required. You will also be required to work in adverse weather conditions and to handle waste. Full training will be given to the successful candidate.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to:
- Safely drive HGV’s and other Council vehicles. It is desirable you hold an HGV Driving Licence Class C and have the skills required to manoeuvre large vehicles in restricted and difficult areas. Experience of rear steer vehicles would be advantageous.
- Deliver the frontline service of waste and recycling collections.
- Supervise a team of refuse collectors/ HGV drivers in the practical collection of waste and recyclables.
