Are you looking for a new and challenging role? One in which you will be able to utilise your expertise in Estate Management to the full? Then Woking could be the place for you.

Vacancy Description

Woking Borough Council has an enviable track record of successful Estate Management and aims to be fully self-financing in the near future.  It now holds a large and highly valuable investment portfolio, consisting of around 500 commercial properties, including Peacocks and Wolsey Place shopping centres.

The management of such a large and diverse estate does not come without its challenges. This esate will also grow later this year with the completion of the £550m Victoria Square project.  We have a clear policy to ensure the effective management of those properties already within our portfolio in order to increase revenue further.

In this busy and diverse role, you will manage a small high performing professional team and external professional advisors.  You will take responsibility for all the acquisitions in train, lead on new acquisitions and act as the authority’s key contact for our Town Centre Management provider - as well as this, you will develop a programme of rent reviews and lease renewals to improve our effectiveness in this area.

About you

Whilst it is essential for you to be MRICs qualified with significant experience in commercial estate management, it will also be your energy and ability to work with colleagues in a friendly supportive way that will deliver success.

About us

Woking is a dynamic, ambitious and fast-paced council.  It is well connected by both road and rail  – including the A3, M3 and M25, as well as the London Portsmouth, South Exeter and London train lines – with central London just 27 minutes away.  It also benefits from adjacent town centre parking and being situated just a 3 minute walk away from the train station.  Woking and the surrounding area also offers a fantastic place to live.

However, we believe it is our culture that makes us stand out. Our team spirit and supportive approach to work means everyone truly enjoys working here.  This is also a high profile role which the Chief Executive takes particular interest in. There are also lots of further investment opportunities in which you will be able to play a key role, including a prestigious £250 million town centre development.  Hence you will be assured of the opportunity to make your mark.

Whilst this is a pressurised role, we also recognise the importance of a work life balance and offer up to 24 days flexi leave in addition to a generous leave entitlement.

For informal enquiries, please contact David Loveless Assistant Director (Property) on 01483 74 3808.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 19th July 2021.
