About the role

Class Teacher - The South Downs School, part of The Southfield Trust

The Southfield Trust are seeking to appoint a committed and inspirational classroom teacher from September 2021 to work with pupils at The South Downs School who have a range of learning disabilities. The post is fixed term for one year.

The South Downs School is an outstanding special school that educates children aged 3 to 11 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities including autism, PMLD and complex needs. There are around 160 pupils on roll. 

The South Downs School is part of the Southfield Multi-academy Special School Trust along with The Lindfield School and Hazel Court School. The Southfield Trust is currently in an exciting phase of development including the opening of a new Free School. 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Consistently good, but ideally outstanding, practice 
  • A high level of skills, knowledge and experience of teaching pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs
  • Commitment to continued professional development 
  • A collaborative approach 
  • The ability to contribute towards supporting the wider work of the school and academy
