Medway Public Health Programmes Team includes partnership commissioning – these are the roles that seek to improve joint commissioning between health and social care in Medway. We are now looking for a Programme Lead to join the team and lead on the commissioning of maternity, health visiting and school nursing. This role will also help deliver the recommendations of the national early years review “The best start for life: a vision for the 1,001 critical days”.
Partnership Commissioning is seeking an individual to bring specialist knowledge and expertise to the Programmes Team ensuring our commissioned universal services are providing the earliest interventions to improve outcomes for children.
The postholder will work with partners across Medway as well as colleagues in the Kent Children’s Commissioning Team to deliver the Better Births programme, Healthy Child Programme and Best Start for Life recommendations. As such they will need the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and also have the credibility and capability to work collaboratively with clinical staff.
The Partnership Commissioning team are a forward thinking and experienced service that coordinate a wide portfolio of projects for Medway Council and Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group including childrens’ emotional wellbeing and mental health as well as children’s community and acute care. The postholder will work alongside the programme leads for these areas too.
The successful applicant will report directly to the service manager (Head of Public Health Programmes) and proactively manage current commissioned contracts, procurement of new services, delivery of nationally prescribed programmes. As the lead for universal child health services they will be expected to promote health and address health inequalities, support the newly developed early help and parenting support strategies. They will be expected to work in partnership with providers, other agencies, and strategic networks.
This may include undertaking practice research, assessment of need and demand, data and financial analysis and arranging/coordinating patient/service user and provider engagement activity where required.
Applicants should have knowledge and recent experience of:
- Measuring and monitoring population health through health needs assessments, insights gathering or other similar procedures to identify need, risk and inequalities.
- Promoting health and addressing health inequalities
- Health protection (communicable diseases and Harm reduction)
- Evidence based practice to provide health advice
- Audit, Evaluation. Performance management and continuous development of commissioned and delivered interventions to improve health.
- Working to the most recent policies and guidance for Sexual Health and Substance Misuse.
- Collaborative working with stakeholders from voluntary, statutory and private sectors.
