We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to work across WECA’s Innovation and Sector Development Team but with primary focus on the management of the day to day operation and implementation of the £1.8M Made Smarter technology adoption project. This project is focused on accelerating the adoption of industrial digital technologies through focused support for manufacturing SMEs in the West of England and will make a real difference to these businesses and the people working in them. To secure this fantastic opportunity working in a great team in an exciting innovation environment, you will have the communication and negotiation skills necessary to represent WECA in public meetings and to explain the Made Smarter Project at strategic level as well as in detail to potential applicants and other stakeholders. You should expect to engage with multiple and varied stakeholders to build effective working relationships with partners in the region, central government and beyond, and to make sure that the project is well connected into synergistic programmes elsewhere in the Authority and throughout the region.
In terms of the Innovation and Sector Development Team, we drive cross-sectoral innovation as envisaged by our Local Industrial Strategy, supporting clean and inclusive economic growth. Innovation capability has been identified as key to economic recovery and resilience building throughout and following the COVID19 crisis, at regional level as well as significantly contributing to national and global efforts. As a team, we contribute to tackling societal grand challenges through delivery of our R&D and innovation programmes, making real positive change to the lives of the residents in our region. We work with our colleagues across the Authority and its constituent local authorities as well as with the region’s diverse and exciting innovation ecosystem, including its universities and businesses and organisations of all sizes.
