The Public Protection Partnership (PPP) is a shared service delivering Environmental Health, Licensing and Trading Standards to over 450,000 people and 10,000 businesses on behalf of three authorities (Partners), Bracknell Forest Council, West Berkshire Council and Wokingham Borough Council. These services encompass a wide range of areas of responsibility from environmental protection to fair trading, food safety to animal health, housing standards to taxi licensing, and much more. We are seeking an enthusiastic Air Quality Officer for a fixed term post (funding limited project) to 31/03/2023. You will be required to assist in the delivery of the DEFRA Air Quality Grant. The aim of the project is to develop solutions over the longer term by increasing awareness to encourage behavioural changes. You will be working with schools directly as well as analysing the results of the monitoring and working with Highways and Transport colleagues to identify possible solutions. This will involve the implementation of the idling plans and any measures that could be taken as a result of findings from the monitoring program undertaken.
As part of the Environmental Quality Team the post holder will support the air quality monitoring programme and provide technical and scientific support as well as dealing with service requests, carry out site inspections and sampling.
You will also be a flexible and good team member as the post holder will work closely with a number of internal colleagues, colleagues within our partner 3 Local Authorities as well as external agencies, clients, residents and schools.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
