The starting salary for this position is £40,227 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

'I am pleased to announce a 12 fixed term or secondment (maternity cover) opportunity for a Senior People Consultant within the People Consultancy team commencing on 1st September. Reporting to the People Consultant Lead, you will be joining a friendly and supportive team of ten People Consultants which sits within the Business Partnering and Employment Practice function'. - Daryle Lowden - People Consultant Lead. 

Working alongside managers and stakeholders across the council, you will be equipped with a “can do” attitude reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and be an active driver for change.  

In collaboration with the People Consultant Lead and your Senior People Consultant colleague you will contribute to the design and ongoing transformation of the People Consultancy Team and its offer to services. This will include co-design of the package of people management training and employee relations support to the organisation. This will link with the Workforce of the Future project.

You will confidently manage the most complex case work spanning the full range of HR&OD issues across all areas of the business in addition to providing HR support to restructures and TUPE projects. Outcome focused, you will ensure that cases are allocated and resolved in a timely manner and in line with legislation/policies and good practice. A key responsibility will be coaching and mentoring team colleagues.  

To be shortlisted for interview, personal statement (of no more than 2 sides of A4) will evidence the following:

  • How you have used knowledge and insight to improve service delivery/impact with evidence of the impact of the change
  • A thorough knowledge and application of employee relations policies and practices in relation to supporting casework and HR projects with an outcome focused mindset
  • Coaching and mentoring skills with evidence of how you have developed and supported a colleague/team
  • The ability to work autonomously with initiative, to engage, develop and consult on plans or projects as appropriate
