About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the safer East Sussex team as a community development officer on a fixed term basis until March 2023. This role focuses on leading the development of the recovery community by engaging communities of people with personal experience of drug or alcohol misuse. You will lead the development of peer support services, support the development of community groups and encourage peer led activities that support and sustain visible recovery from drug and alcohol misuse. You will also work to highlight the role recovery plays in the wider community safety agenda.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who believes strongly in the importance of developing the assets of the recovery community in East Sussex. The ideal candidate is a passionate, determined and innovative individual who has a proven track record in developing and maintaining effective partnership working opportunities with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be credible at all levels within your current work and be a highly skilled communicator with people in a wide range of roles. You will be used to operating outside normal working frameworks and be able to manage the ambiguity of working to both a line manager and, at times, another senior colleague on specific pieces of work.
You will be experienced in acting as an enabler to facilitate high quality asset based practice , growing the capabilities of communities and of groups and individuals within them as well as setting the direction for communities to grow and thrive in an inclusive way.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
